Disbursement of payments |
The payments are made every Tuesday. These payments are made within 2 weeks of the claim being lodged with us. We process claims daily. All claims lodged at the MMPO office, either by post or electronically by lunchtime Friday will be paid Tuesday week (in 10 days time). We will also divert payments to other practitioners as requested by you. |
To other practitioners |

Yes, we manage disbursements to other practitioners. The information for disbursement is required on:
- The pregnancy summary form.
- Or on the baby summary and disbursement form.
Please complete the information clearly:
- The full name of the midwife or other practitioner.
- The bank account number (if not an MMPO member).
Or if you claim remotely send these details via email.

To your other accounts |
To meet your income tax obligations:
We do not deduct any income tax from your payments, so you will need to arrange for payment of provisional tax with Inland Revenue (0800 377 774).
In order to assist you with this commitment, we will divert some of your payment to your 'tax account' if you wish.
To have a proportion of your payments diverted to your tax account:
- Provide us with the bank account number of your 'tax account'.
- Let us know the proportion (%) you would like us to credit to this account from each pay.
Business support:
- Streamlining systems for claiming and data collection enabling members to monitor their services
- Time saving on administrative activities and negotiation of service contracts
- Provision of a business interface with other health services involved in maternity
- Access to IT practice management advice and solutions
Outcomes of MMPO members appear to be superior to the national average for:
- Normal birth outcomes
- Lower intervention including induction, operative delivery
- Home birth
- Breast feeding rates
GST Payments:
If you anticipate earning over $40,000 per year, you must be GST registered. On receipt of your GST number, obtained by application to Inland Revenue (0800 377 774), we will pay you the GST inclusive amount.
If you are not GST registered, you will receive GST exclusive payments.
